Last weekend Travis Pastrana continued his World Rally Championship efforts by competing in the difficult Wales Rally Great Britain. Travis finished 11th overall in his class, the P-WRC.
Travis has been stepping up and competing at select events on the WRC in 2007, the most competitive and challenge rally circuit out there. He's already finished rallies in Argentina and Mexico earlier this year, and with each rally Travis gets more experience as he preps for a full blown WRC effort in the coming years.
Wind, rain, and fog make Wales Rally one of the most difficult events on the WRC circuit as the course weaves through 224 miles of Welsh forests. "This was the most difficult rally I have ever finished," explained Pastrana. "At times the fog was so thick that I couldn't see the hood of my Subaru and the rain poured so hard that the wipers couldn't work fast enough! It was terrifying but fun," said Travis.
Apart from the gnarly weather conditions, Travis faced a number of obstacles at Wales. He had two punctured tires on the first three stages, one of which he had to stop and change himself in the pouring rain! He charged on through three more punctured tires plus a broken ball joint that stopped him completely.
On a high note, Travis did manage to get five top ten stage times in his class, and steadily challenged top drivers in regards to stage times.

Travis' next rally will be the Race of Champions, invited to compete in the event for the third year in a row. He'll represent the USA alongside Jimmie Johnson as they compete against the world's best racers from all driving disciplines.
