It was a must win for Ken Block. Just two points out of second place heading into the final event of the 2008 Rally America National Championship, he had to do well at Lake Superior Performance Rally (LSPR) if he wanted the bump-up to 2nd place overall in the standings. On top of that, he was only a couple points ahead of fourth place… the pressure was on. He did better than well—Ken won LSPR, moving up to 2nd overall.
The strong finish from Ken gives DC rally a 1-2 finish in the overall Rally America standings for 2008… Travis Pastrana locked in first last month.
Day one saw solid driving from Ken. With an all-or-nothing approach to the weekend, Ken attacked from stage one on, driving aggressively on the technical roads on Michigan’s upper peninsula. He ended the day a minute and nineteen seconds ahead.
Day two saw more of the same… despite a strong lead, Ken charged on and kept his rhythm. He won two stages, easily taking the win at LSPR. Travis meanwhile was right there, driving conservatively but still taking 3rd.
Congratulations to Ken on the win, and to both Travis and Ken on the 1-2 finish in the 2008 Rally America National Championship. As usual, rally.subaru.com has posted lots of photos on their site… go here for those.
And stay tuned… we’re about to drop more rally footage and photos of Travis and Ken at auto.dcshoes.com!
